Palaces

Islamic palaces are of great importance, starting with the so-called Umayyad desert castles, especially the unfinished palace of Mshatta, built in 743-744 CE, in what is now Jordan, the facade of which has been displayed in Berlin since 1904.

Katharina Otto-Dorn visited the remains of the palace in 1951 on her way to Resafa, Syrien; these rare imageges can be found here
