Jali

Jali (openwork grilles) carved from stone or marble are found primarily on the Indian subcontinent, and in the finest workmanship during the Mughal period (1526 - 1857).

Similar architectural elements made of stucco can be found in the Gulf States (e.g. in Muharraq, Bahrain).
