Museum of Asian Art in Berlin

Emerged from the Museum of Indian Art, which was based in Dahlem until it moved to the Humboldt Forum.

The history of the Museum of Asian Art goes back to the Brandenburg Kunstkammer, whose inventory already included some of today's collection objects. The Museum of East Asian Art was founded in 1906 as the first museum of its kind in Germany. The Indian Department of the Museum of Ethnology, which was founded in 1873 and is now the Ethnological Museum, became the Museum of Indian Art in 1963. In December 2006, both collections were merged to form the Museum of Asian Art. https://smb.museum-digital.de/institution/3
