Katharina Otto-Dorn (1908-1999) in Kubadabad, Turkey, 1965-1966

Katharina Otto-Dorn (1908-1999)

The photo archives of the well known Islamic Art Historian covers not only extensive educational material for teaching (reproduced slides) but also several thousand original slides, photos and negatives, mainly from Turkey and Syria, taken in the 1950s and 1960s see Historical Images.

A strong focus is on slides and photos from the excavation (1965-1966) of a Seljuk summer palace with a unique figurative tile decoration in Kubadabad on the shores of Lake Beysehir in Central Anatolia. Another rarity are the slides and photos of the first and second campaign of the excavation in Resafa / Rusafah (Syrian desert) in the years 1952 and 1954.
