Wilhelm (von) Bode (1845 - 1929)

Wilhelm (von) Bode, ab 1905 Generaldirektor der Königlichen Museen zu Berlin, hatte schon früh islamische Teppiche (in Italien) gesammelt. Ihm kommt das große Verdienst zu, eine Islamische Abteilung an den Berliner Museen initiert und den jungen Friedrich Sarre für die Islamische Kunstgeschichte begeistert und später als Direktor für die neu gegründete Abteilung (1904) gewonnen zu haben.
