Archive Katharina Otto-Dorn Turkey

Above all, the archive contains extensive visual material from Turkey from the 1950s and 1960s. The focus is on Islamic architecture of the Seljuk period (for example, the so-called wooden column mosques). A particular focus is on the tile decoration of the summer palace of Alaeddin Kaikubad in Kubadabad on the shores of Lake Beysehir, which Katharina Otto-Dorn excavated in 1965 and 1966.

There are hundreds of photos or slides from numerous places, online are e.g. some images from the following sites:

Adana, Afyon, Ankara, Ayas, Beysehir, Damsa Koy, Diyarbakir, Kayseri, Kubadabad, Sivrihisar (the list is being continually expanded).

Besides photographic material, some documents are also presented here, such as the catalog of an exhibition in Hagen in 1956 by Rudolf Belling (1886-1972), with whom Katharina Otto-Dorn was in contact during her time in Istanbul and Ankara (see dedication in the catalogue) or the restoration report of the murals of Hazinadar Mescidi in Sivrihisar from 1965 (some images on-line).
